Hello friends,
This week, three poems and a new EP… Enjoy! And if you do, please consider buying my new chapbook, just out last month: Return of… the Robots of Babylon.
My new EP Bluer came out a couple of weeks ago. Bluer presents three compositions for crwth (plucked and bowed) and bouzouki only. You can listen to the whole thing here:
Now some poems…
TIME (Palindrome by Word)
Time keeps forever.
It grows us in light.
The unfurling days
see shadows turn.
In turn, shadows
see days unfurling.
The light in us grows.
It forever keeps time.
JULY (Ottava Rima)
I walked a starlit field that cold July.
I found a star and named it after you,
the way the ancients mapped the gods to sky.
I named another for myself and drew
a line between us. Then, I said goodbye....
I wonder if the stars have named us too,
with names that last far longer than our own —
and echo, gently, mid that great unknown?
MOON SONNET
The Moon,
despite
its white
lagoon,
has strewn
tonight
blue light,
maroon
by dawn
and lost
to sun —
withdrawn,
like frost
unspun.
"July" is a favorite of mine. It's about letting go of stuff.
Each poem feels like an experiment in structure that somehow still carries an ache of wonder. You don’t just write in forms, you make them breathe.
