Four Poems for Crows
Hello friends,
Four poems this week, written under four different constraints. Enjoy! (And if you do, please consider supporting my work by purchasing either my omnibus edition Knit Ink (and Other Poems) or something from my store.)
Alternatively, buy me a coffee on Ko-Fi!
CROW (Palindrome)
Deft,
I saw a crow,
over us,
a sure vow or caw
as it fed.MURDER OF CROWS (Triolet)
A murder, from a garden, rose
and left us in the dying light.
The sky is red now — no one knows
a murder from a garden rose.
It’s rare to see so many crows,
and now they’ve gone to gather night.
A murder from a garden rose
and left us in the dying light.CROWS (Monometer Sonnet)
They stop
and perch
atop
the church,
a choir
below
the spire:
The crows.
Each caw
enlists
ten more.
The mist
is grey
as clay.CROWS (Anagrammed Lines)
The crows are back at the
weathercock that bears
a hawk.... Both trace secret
arches to the backwater,
to caw at the brash creek.

Brilliant! I was playing a tennis match last week, and our audience consisted of a single crow who perched on the back fence for almost the entire match. It might have nipped away a few times to grab snacks. We were even blessed with occasional caw-mmentary.
Four in a crow. Brilliant, as always!
