Four Poems
Hello friends,
Four more poems for you, as well as a quick note to tell you that my new CD is now available from anthonyetherin.com: “Peanut Tuna EP” features 8 compositions in a punk rock or punk-adjacent style. Each composition’s lead guitar parts play the same backwards as forwards. You can hear the whole thing here, for free, on YouTube. The digital download is available for purchase here and the CD here.
Anyway…. Poems!
WINTER SOLSTICE (Anagrammed Lines)
Winter Solstice:
Written close is
woe. Strict lines
wrestle in stoic
selections, writ
low in its secret.
HELEN OF TROY (Palindrome)
Sir, a prism or feud?
Raw deed — in a trap, say?
Menelaus: A casual enemy, a Spartan.
I deed war, due from Sir Paris.
DEVIL (Triolet)
The devil met me in the dark.
He knew that he would find me there;
he saw that I had lost the spark.
The devil met me in the dark.
He sunk a claw and made his mark;
and now I dwell forever where
the devil met me. In the dark,
he knew that he would find me there.
THE HUMANIST (Palindrome by Word)
Can we suppose
man created God?
There is nothing
suggesting we are divine.
Are we suggesting
nothing is there?
“God created man” —
suppose we can?
