Hello friends!
I’m delighted to announce that my third full-length collection is now available for pre-order! THE ROBOTS OF BABYLON is a collection of constrained poetry largely inspired by pulp fiction tropes. I’ve invented several new alphabetical and metrical constraints for this collection, as well as including plenty of work based on traditional restrictions and poetic forms. It’s my most fun book, in both structure and content!
The book is available in full-colour hardback and full-colour paperback, from both PenteractPress.com and AnthonyEtherin.com.
Five short poems this week, beginning with a palindrome from my new book:
SOHO (Palindrome)
Nightlife’s
able to make
esteemed art
Soho’s trade:
Meet,
seek a motel —
base filth, gin....
BLOOD MOON (Sonnet)
The Moon
falls pale,
and soon
its frail
façade
is blurred
and marred,
obscured
by drips
from Earth’s
eclipse,
which births
a flood
of blood….
AT DAWN (Anagrammed Lines)
Shades flood dawn, in a memory
of meadows and soil and rhyme;
of harmony — and a smile, dowsed
in dreams made only of shadow….
DEEP SLEEP (Palindrome-Haiku)
Led north, gilded dew….
A deep sleep’s eyes peel, speed a
wedded, light rondel.
LOSS (Palindrome-by-Pairs)
Remove loss:
Rest well,
till we retire well —
till we stress love more.
Many congratulations on the new collection, Anthony - it sounds like a lot of fun, and I'm looking forward to reading it! Lovely poems here too - 'Loss' is particularly resonant I think.
